GROWING SUCCESS OF warehousexchange.co.uk
Featuring details of 15 million square feet of warehouse space across the UK and generating in excess of 1500 enquiries each month, warehousexchange.co.uk is clearly in huge demand. More than 20 new warehouses have already registered their facilities in the last few months, with one or two new warehouses registering each week. The fact that its website traffic has increased by some 50% on last year, attracting 250 hits every day, is further evidence of the company’s continuing and growing success.
With approximately 40% of all UK warehouse space lying empty at any one time, it is hardly surprising that warehousexchange.co.uk has swiftly become the first point of contact for a growing number of companies looking to meet short- to medium-term space requirements. Businessmen and women from every industry have been quick to seize the opportunities offered by this online space-broking service and its revolutionary approach to warehousing.
In essence, warehousexchange.co.uk is a website business that provides a win/win meeting place for companies experiencing either a lack of or surplus storage facilities. It is continuously updated and, being online, is naturally available 24/7. It is also extremely simple to access and navigate. Operators with any amount of excess warehouse space are able simply to register their details including location, size, product suitability, availability, on-site security, racking and handling equipment.
Space-seekers log on and perform a short search procedure using the same criteria and the system instantly pinpoints the warehouse space that best meets the user’s needs. Everybody’s happy: the warehouse operator enjoys significant new earnings opportunities; and the space-seeker fulfills his storage requirements without the heavy investment needed to purchase or build his own facilities.
Roy Wilson, warehousexchange.co.uk director, comments: “This is a revolutionary yet simple system that enables companies with under-utilised warehouse space to unlock otherwise inaccessible financial potential. At the same time, it presents users with the opportunity to satisfy their storage needs at minimum cost. The process is also highly versatile, covering all sizes and types of warehousing facilities and support systems throughout the UK, while the absence of any minimum or maximum duration parameters allows full flexibility.
“Many of the UK’s leading players have already recognised the potential of our service and we enjoy ongoing relationships with well known companies from almost all industries and markets. Without exception, they all value the unique proactive nature of our service which enables us to actually generate business for them. We are very optimistic for the future of warehousexchange.co.uk – so, if you’ll pardon the pun, ‘watch this space’!”

“PERSONAL SERVICE IS WHAT THE CLIENTS WANT” – WAREHOUSEXCHANGE BUSINESS CONTINUES TO GROW AS SPACEBUSTER CLOSES
Warehousexchange was the UK’s first online warehouse space broker when launched in October 2000.
The web site continues to provide an online catalogue of available warehouse space provided by warehousexchange clients, but the site has never provided online trading capability, serving instead as an initial point of contact with the warehousexchange team of warehousing and logistics professionals.
The Directors have always been convinced that customers were looking for a personal service when searching for warehouse space. The warehousexchange staff take on the responsibility of finding the right space to match the customer’s brief, provide a shortlist to match the brief and arrange initial visits, accompanied if necessary before leaving the customer and the chosen warehouse operator to agree final details.
The warehousexchange space broking concept attracted several competitors to the market, but all chose to provide an online space directory rather than recognise that space broking is a service business. Now the first and best known of those competitors, Spacebuster has closed its web site after 12 months in business, stating that “…online trading has not yet replaced traditional methods”
Meanwhile, warehousexchange goes from strength to strength. The web-site now shows detail of over 15 million sq ft of space across the UK, the number of customers is increasing dramatically as the warehousexchange brand becomes ever more widely known and the company is currently interviewing franchisees to extend the depth of coverage in all areas.
“The space broking business is not as easy as our so-called competitors believed “ said Roy Wilson, Joint Managing Director of warehousexchange limited “We invest many hours with potential customers, ensuring that we know and understand their needs precisely. Because of this, when they do need space, they know that we can save them time by providing the solution that is right for them. They appreciate the convenience of our service based business model”
